Indian Creek Greenbelt Trail/Kiwanis Park Trail Project

On May 6, 2009, the City of Nevada received bids for the Indian Creek Greenbelt Trail/Kiwanis Park Trail project.  The contract was awarded to Con-Struct, Inc. of Ames, with a total project bid of $518,058.75.

The City Council of Nevada approved the contract at the May 11th Council meeting.  Construct, Inc. anticipates beginning this project in mid-June, weather permitting.  The project completion date is before October 2, 2009.

The project will involve completion of a section of trail along Indian Creek from the 4-H grounds to a trail head at 8th St. and includes a bridge over Indian Creek.  The project also includes the installation of a trail along the south end of Kiwanis Park.

The project is partially funded with an Iowa Department of Natural Resources REAP grant.  Howard R. Green Company will have a representative on site during all paving activities to coordinate the required testing and proper practices for placement of the asphalt trail.

Roadway closures as part of this project are not anticipated.  There will be construction traffic as part of the project.  Construction access is only allowed from the 4-H grounds, 8th Street and City property on the south end of 5th St.

Matt Ferrier at Howard R. Green Company would be happy to address any questions you may have regarding the Indian Creek Trail Project.  He can be reached at 515-278-2913.
